The Annual Meeting of the Members of Prairie Land Electric Cooperative, Inc. was held April 9, 2026, at the Prairie Land headquarters in Norton. A brisket lunch prepared by RC RubGrub BBQ out of Glade was served to 217 members and guests by Prairie Land’s employees and 14 students from Norton Community High School.
Prairie Land Board President Mike Rogers chaired the meeting and called it to order at 12:45 p.m. He recognized special guests in attendance, introduced the members of the board of trustees for each district, and then called on John McClymont, attorney for Prairie Land, to give the results of the 2026 trustee election. MIKE ROGERS was reelected to District 1; KEITH ROSS was reelected to District 2; RON GRIFFITH was reelected to District 4; and LOWELL THOMAN was reelected to District 5. Rogers introduced the guest speaker, Steve Epperson, CEO of Sunflower Electric Power Corporation. Epperson spoke about how power is generated or procured in wholesale markets amid an evolving energy industry landscape, and its connection to members’ retail electric bills.
CEO Kirk Girard introduced the annual update video, which featured Prairie Land’s financial overview, project updates, and company highlights for 2025, while also underscoring the 2026 theme, “Reliable Today, Resilient Tomorrow,” reflecting where the cooperative stands today and the direction it is heading. There being no further business; it was moved, seconded and carried to adjourn the meeting.
Prairie Land’s member services team conducted the drawings for door prizes.
